A chilly day spent in Rocky Mountain National Park. Went all the way up Trail Ridge, above 12,000 feet, where the wind was whipping and a light snow was blowing at this high altitude. After coming back down through Moraine Park, the magic light began to happen.

One week in New Hampshire that came with 7 days full of rain. The woods were lush with ferns and moss. Even found a few red maples. Not much t shoot on the coast during this week.

In the Lamar Valley in Yellowstone I came across a grizzly that had the herd of several hundred bison & calves on the run. One of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. The griz stopped for a few seconds to raise up on two legs to give me a look and then went back to the bison.

A four day adventure up to the Northwest corner of Wyoming. Spend time exploring Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. Camping was chilly. Saw a couple of wolves in Yellowstone, along with a few grizzlies, eagles and thousands of bison.

The sun refused to shine this morning. Rain and a little bit of snow began to fall in the Poudre Canyon. A short drive on Stove Prairie Road and the fog became extremely dense. Visibility was only about 40 yards, but this is my kind of weather.

Early morning drive up to Rocky Mountain Park to see what I could capture at Bear Lake. They had gotten 4′ of fresh snow in the past three days. The storm had finally passed and the forecast for clear skies was good. However, the sunrise was a little diffused. I found my way out on Bear Lake standing in deep snow waiting for the sun to rise. The crescent moon caught my attention and I swung tripod around to focus on the treeline. The snow in the morning light created some amazing lighting on the fresh powder.

After shooting in Arches NP headed out to explore the Island in the Sky sections of Canyonlands National Park. Found a great angle on the canyon rim overlooking the Green River and waiting for show to begin. As the sun set the reddish-orange glow of the canyon wall was amazing. I crawled out of my frosty tent the next morning, hoping for clear skies and wonderful light. Again, I wasn’t disappointed. One of the most beautiful sunrises I ever seen as the sun came over the La Sal Mountains and lit the underside of Mesa Arch.

After a journey to Moab that was filled with a snowstorm at the Continental Divide and a downpour of rain as I entered Utah, the trip was amazing. I got to spend 2 days shooting in Arches National Park. Most of the daytime was rain & snow. I had one late afternoon to hike to Delicate Arch with hopes that the sun would peek out below the cloudband just before it set. The sun didn’t show. But, the hike and experience were amazing. The next morning the sun finally came out and lit the Windows and Turret Arches beautifully. Couldn’t believe I was the only one that climbed up to the perch to get the sunrise shot through North Windows Arch looking at Turret Arch.
